1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using upscpapers ("the Service"), including our mobile application, website (upscpapers.com), and all related features, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service.
  • If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to create an account and use the Service.
  • You represent that all information you provide during registration is accurate, current, and complete.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are solely responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Account Registration and Security

  • You may register using email/password or via Google/Apple OAuth.
  • You must provide a valid email address. We will verify your email before granting full access.
  • You are limited to one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate competitions, leaderboards, or referral rewards is prohibited and will result in immediate termination.
  • You must not share your account credentials with others or allow others to access your account.
  • Notify us immediately at support@upscpapers.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

4. Description of Service

upscpapers provides a digital preparation platform for UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) Civil Services Examination aspirants. The Service includes:

  • Daily quiz missions with previous year questions (PYQs) and static practice questions
  • Performance analytics including weakness analysis, subject breakdown, readiness scoring, and study time tracking
  • PYQ intelligence with year-wise trends, topic hotspots, and projected question patterns
  • Squad-based competitions with leaderboards and pod rankings
  • Study partner matching based on subject compatibility and activity consistency
  • Structured 30-day subject mastery programs with day-by-day tracking
  • All-India mock tests with percentile ranking
  • Curated current affairs compilations (quarterly) and strategy blog posts
  • In-app partner chat and squad messaging
  • Spaced-repetition content recall for long-term retention
  • Referral program with streak freeze rewards
  • Premium subscription (₹799/year) with enhanced analytics, unlimited study partners, and additional streak freezes

5. User Conduct and Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws in India.
  • Post, share, or transmit any content that is defamatory, obscene, abusive, harassing, hateful, or otherwise objectionable through chat, squad messages, or any interactive feature.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
  • Attempt to manipulate quiz scores, streak counts, leaderboard rankings, competition results, referral rewards, or any other metric through automated means, scripting, multiple accounts, collusion, or any form of cheating.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Use any robot, spider, scraper, or automated means to access the Service for any purpose without our express written permission.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any malicious code.
  • Use the Service for commercial purposes, including selling access, reselling content, or advertising third-party products without authorization.

6. User-Generated Content

  • You retain ownership of content you create through the Service, including chat messages and profile information.
  • By posting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (e.g., displaying your messages to the intended recipients, showing your name on leaderboards).
  • We reserve the right to remove any user-generated content that violates these Terms, at our sole discretion.
  • Chat messages reported through our reporting mechanism will be reviewed. Users who repeatedly violate content policies may have their chat privileges restricted or their accounts terminated.

7. Intellectual Property

  • Our Content: All content provided by upscpapers — including but not limited to blog posts, current affairs compilations, articles, practice questions (both PYQ and static), question explanations, graphics, logos, and the overall design and layout of the Service — is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by Indian and international copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
  • Restrictions: You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or commercially exploit any of our content without prior written permission. Personal, non-commercial use (studying, note-taking) is permitted.
  • User Content: You retain ownership of content you upload or create. See Section 6.
  • UPSC Questions: Previous year questions (PYQs) are sourced from publicly available UPSC examination papers. We do not claim copyright ownership over the questions themselves — only over our explanations, analysis, data visualizations, and the organization and presentation of the content.
  • AI-Generated Content: Content generated or assisted by artificial intelligence tools is owned by us, subject to the terms of the AI service providers used. Such content is clearly labeled where applicable.

8. Premium Subscriptions and Payments

  • Premium subscription is priced at ₹799 per year (inclusive of applicable taxes).
  • Payments are processed securely through Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) using their in-app purchase systems. We do not store your full payment card details.
  • Premium features include: unlimited study partner matching, enhanced analytics (readiness score, PYQ intelligence, contribution calendar), additional streak freezes (5 vs 2), and premium badge.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew annually unless cancelled. You may cancel auto-renewal at any time through your App Store or Play Store account settings.
  • Free features remain available indefinitely, including daily missions, basic analytics, squad competitions, content access, and 2 streak freezes.

9. Refund Policy

  • Premium subscriptions are non-refundable except as required by applicable law.
  • If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from accessing premium features for more than 7 consecutive days, and we are unable to resolve it, you may request a pro-rated refund for the affected period.
  • Refund requests must be submitted to support@upscpapers.com within 14 days of the charge.
  • If you delete your account, your subscription is cancelled but no refund is provided for the unused portion of the subscription period.

10. Educational Disclaimer

  • upscpapers is an independent preparation platform. We are NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) or any government body.
  • Our content — including PYQ analysis, predicted question patterns, readiness scores, and topic hotspots — is for educational and informational purposes only. We do NOT guarantee success in any examination.
  • Users should cross-reference all content with official UPSC syllabi, notifications, and standard reference materials.
  • Mock test scores and All-India rankings are indicative only and do not predict actual UPSC examination performance.
  • AI-generated content undergoes human review, but may contain inaccuracies. Always verify facts independently.

11. Third-Party Services and Links

  • The Service integrates with third-party services including Google OAuth, Apple Sign-In, Apple App Store and Google Play (in-app purchase payments), and Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
  • We may provide links to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of these external sites.

12. Termination

  • By You: You may terminate your account at any time through Profile → Account → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your data will be handled per our Privacy Policy (Section 5). If you have an active Premium subscription, no refund is provided for the remaining period.
  • By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, engage in cheating or manipulation, create multiple accounts, post abusive content, or if your account remains inactive for 24 months. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the violation.
  • Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Data retention follows our Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
  • Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of viruses or harmful components.
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or currency of any content, analysis, scores, or predictions provided through the Service.
  • Warranties regarding UPSC examination outcomes, scores, or selection.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, UPSCPAPERS, ITS FOUNDERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
  • Damages resulting from your reliance on any content, analysis, or prediction provided by the Service.
  • Damages resulting from your inability to access or use the Service.
  • Damages resulting from the conduct of other users, including harassment, abuse, or misleading information shared through chat or squad features.
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data.

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or ₹500, whichever is greater.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless upscpapers, its founders, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • Your access to or use of the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Any content you submit, post, or transmit through the Service.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  • These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India.
  • Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through mutual negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, the dispute shall be referred to binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
  • The seat of arbitration shall be Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The language of arbitration shall be English.
  • Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction.

17. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government actions, internet or telecommunications failures, power outages, or pandemics.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and upscpapers regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
